Architecture

Osaka city central public hallThere are many attractive buildings in Nakanoshima area. Most of them were built in the early 20th century. You could call them Neo Baroque Architecture.

osakastationOsaka Station City Building is also unique. The big roof is covered over the platforms. In the north building, you can find many hidden spaces. Try to find various clocks.

Ando Tadao

Now I'd like to introduce a unique architect, Ando Tadao. His design is known for unique concrete.Ando was born in Osaka. He hasn't completed the advanced education. He just went to other countries when he was young and he was motivated to become an architect.

He has been involved in many projects in the world. Modern Art Museum Chikatsu-Asuka Historical Museumof Fort Worth in Texas and Langen Foundation in Germany are just examples.Gate of Creation, Universidad de Monterrey, Interior design of Ybl villa in Budapest, Tokyo Sky Tree, Abu Dhabi Marine Museum and other projects are in progress.

In Osaka, you can see Chikatsu-Asuka Historical Museum and suntorySuntory Museum (closed in 2010) and Chaska Chayamachi. chasuka
Just walking around Shinsaibashi street, you can find his old works.

My recommendation is "Church of Light (Ibaraki Kasugaoka Church)" located in Ibaraki city. Althoug it is located in the suburbs of Osaka), the church attracts many domestic and overseas tourists.

This is a protestant church. Is there a big difference in protestant and chatholic? The minister said yes.Church of Light
But this church welcomes anybody. Good thing is you can take pictures inside of the building!

Church of Light

It's open on certain days, according to the schedule shown on the website, but you'd better attend Sunday ceremony.
(Never call the church on Sunday morning!).
